Hypertension and hypotension, how to determine them and how to live with it
What is arterial blood pressure?
Arterial blood pressure is the pressure of blood on the walls of blood vessels. It provides the movement of blood through the vessels. Blood is pumped into the heart, and then pushed into the vessels - at this moment the pressure in the vessels is maximum. Then the heart relaxes and after a short pause it begins to fill with blood again - this is the second phase, when the pressure in the arteries is minimal. Maximum and minimum pressure - this is what is called upper and lower pressure. The pressure is recorded in the form of a fraction, where in the numerator is the upper indicator of pressure, and in the denominator is the lower.
What pressure is considered normal?
Pressure is an important indicator of health, a person’s vitality and well-being depend on its level. Each person has his own norm. It depends on the age, individual characteristics of a person, his lifestyle, constitution. So, for example, the lower limit of normal for a teenager is 100/70, but in an elderly person such pressure indicates the presence of a serious disease. In people leading an active lifestyle, a pressure of 100/60 or even 90/50 is considered normal. The pressure should be lower for a young man than for an elderly man, lower for an athlete than a couch potato, lower for a tall and thiner one than a heavy and stocky one. Sometimes low blood pressure also occurs in hypertensive patients.
The average is considered an indicator of 120/80 mm RT. Art. But, as mentioned above, there is a huge variety of "normal" indicators. Therefore, it is best if you know your normal pressure at which you feel good. Then you can easily catch abnormalities and find out the degree of hypertension.
Hypertonic or hypotensive - what type are you prone to?
You are prone tohypertensionif: Cases were observed in your family among your immediate family. This disease is very often inherited, especially on the maternal side. You regularly experience stress or work in a factory with a high noise level, night shifts
You have a tendency to be overweight - the more extra pounds, the higher the risk.hypotensionif: You feel much better in coolness than in heat. You endure involuntary immobility, your well-being improves when walking or other muscular activity. Sudden transitions from horizontal to vertical will make you dizzy.
Hypertension is called a persistent increase in blood pressure, and hypotension is a change in the direction of lowering. Hypertension can be very dangerous - with increased pressure, the risk of cardiovascular disease is much higher than with normal. Scientists have calculated that if the average level of blood pressure in the population drops by only 2 mm Hg. Art., this will save more than 70 thousand lives annually. First of all, stroke mortality rates will decrease. With high blood pressure, medication is most often required.
If you find yourself prone to high blood pressure, you need to reconsider your lifestyle, give up some bad habits and not put off treatment in a long box. Living with high blood pressure is very dangerous. Useful foods for hypertension
If you have high blood pressure
The first signs of high blood pressure are headaches, heartbeat, dizziness, tinnitus. A persistent increase in pressure can trigger a hypertensive crisis. In this case, a person may lose consciousness, shortness of breath or even suffocation, sharp chest pain, heartbeat, impaired vision and even paralysis are observed. Without treatment, a sudden sharp increase in blood pressure, which until then was only moderately elevated, can lead to life-threatening situations. Nevertheless, in most cases, high pressure can be controlled.
In people who regularly engage in sports, the level of upper pressure decreases by 3.5 mmHg. Art., and the lower - at 2.58 mm RT. This is not much, but even such a decrease is enough to significantly reduce the risk of coronary heart disease or cerebrovascular accident. In this case, you do not have to spend all the time in the gym and exhaust yourself with training. A 20-minute morning run or regular exercise is enough. Choose the type of activity that will give you pleasure. It can be cycling, swimming, shaping or any other sport. The only condition: classes should be regular. Three times a week for 30 minutes will bring much more benefit than one hour and a half workout.
Eat right and keep track of your weight
Give up some culinary habits that can be very harmful to people prone to hypertension. First of all, we are talking about the use of large amounts of table salt. For hypertensive patients, this is really a “white enemy", so try to abandon herring and pickles and wean yourself to add food to the dish when it is already on the table. In addition, nutrition should be varied - eat plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, cereals, and foods containing potassium. Give preference to meat and fish of low-fat varieties. Japanese cuisine is very useful because it is most often low-fat and properly balanced dishes. Give up alcohol and nicotine.
Try to get rid of extra pounds - overweight inevitably leads to increased pressure.
Any, even the smallest, stress leads to an increase in blood pressure. Some already at the sight of a doctor, the level of blood pressure rises. What can we say about work that keeps many in a state of ongoing stress. Fear of bosses, Aral, conflicts in the team - all this is a constant source of emotions, and consequently, high blood pressure. Try to take any situation calmly. Agree, there are not many reasons to really get upset. Try to control yourself - having cursed a seller who has rude you in a store, you will do much more harm to your health. Learn to relax. Forget about work when you get home. Close your eyes and give yourself twenty minutes of peace among the bustle of the day - and your body will be very grateful to you for this.
If your state of health worsens when you stand for a long time, take hot baths, and stay in a stuffy room for a long time, if you poorly tolerate hunger, feel lethargy, drowsiness, then you are most likely hypotensive. However, this is not a reason to panic and declare yourself sick - there are ways to prevent low blood pressure that will help get rid of the disease and give you pleasure.
Take time to relax
A full rest is important for you, as for no other. With hypotension, a full night's sleep is required (at least 7-8 hours). Spend as much time as possible in the fresh air. If you listen to your body, you yourself will notice that you feel much better and more cheerful after a walk.
Low blood pressure indicates lethargy of blood vessels, therefore hypotensive patients are recommended procedures aimed at strengthening the blood vessels. Such procedures include a contrast shower, hydromassage, swimming and exercise. But in no case do not overdo it - whatever you do, it should give your body and you only pleasure.
Take vitamins and tonic
Natural tonic agents that are indicated for arterial hypotension include tincture of Chinese magnolia vine, eleutherococcus, and ginseng - they give energy, restore efficiency, and improve well-being. However, they should not be carried away - it is better to consult a doctor. Use multivitamins, especially in the winter-spring period. Drink freshly brewed tea, eat more seafood and other protein foods. In your case, you should also not give up a cup of coffee.
If you are prone to hypotension, negative emotions can be a factor in triggering a sharp and strong decrease in pressure. This is one of the main causes of hypotension. Therefore, it is important for you to maintain a stable emotional state and avoid stressful situations. Try to give yourself more joyful moments - do what you love, live a full sexual life, get a boost of positive energy from communicating with children and friends. All this will help to avoid not only problems with pressure, but also many cardiovascular diseases.
Visit your doctor regularly
A timely visit to the doctor will help to avoid many health problems. Therefore, as soon as you suspect that your pressure is changing and you feel uncomfortable, try to see a doctor as soon as possible. When examining arterial blood pressure, a blood test will be taken from you, urine will most likely be prescribed by a specialist consultation, and they will also be asked to measure morning and evening pressure for several days.
If, after you determine the cause of the problems, you will also start to follow doctor’s recommendations will be absolutely wonderful.
