We remove winter shoes: 5 necessary rules
Before you put warm shoes in the closet until the next cold weather, they need to be well cleaned of reagents, dried and ventilated. Of course, it is better to entrust expensive shoes to professionals from the shoe workshop.
Pay attention to:
- salt stains on shoes;
- black stripes on the skin and heels;
- glossy suede shoes.
1. Plaque from salt and snow
Mix equal parts of water and vinegar. Dampen a clean cloth in the solution and wipe the shoes with it, then rinse with a damp sponge and wipe again with a dry cloth or towel. After the shoe dries (away from heaters), polish it with a flannel or other soft cloth.
2. Black stripes
Do not try to scrape them off with force, as you will only spoil the skin of the boot or boot. Moisten a soft cloth in water, and then in baking soda and very carefully, without pressing, wipe the scratches. If the shoes are rubber, do exactly the same, but instead of water, use a cleaning agent for the kitchen (this cleaning method is also suitable for plastic or wooden heels). As soon as the strips disappear, wipe the shoes with a clean, dry cloth and set to dry.
3. Overgrown suede
Most leather shoe polish products are not suede friendly as suede must remain dry. For her, a special rubber brush or a regular rubber eraser is suitable, which you need to quickly wipe the entire surface of the shoe, and then brush away the remaining crumbs. Dry dirt from suede can be cleaned with an emery cloth. And if the suede is wrinkled and begins to shine, rub it with a clean toothbrush or a hard towel. If this does not help, hold the boot for a few seconds over hot steam, and then clean it with a special brush.
4. If the shoes are wet
Act as soon as you get home. Without waiting for the shoes to dry, wipe the entire surface with a damp sponge. So you will avoid salt stains. To prevent the shoes from losing their shape from moisture, put them inside the newspaper (but do not tighten them so as not to stretch). Before you hide it, newspapers need to be removed.
5. Do not forget about shoe polish!
Before going out, apply a protective cream against moisture, snow and salt. But do not use it too often: 1-2 times a week is enough. Before storage, leather boots can be lubricated with ordinary children's cream or hand cream, which includes silicone.
